Today twelve of us went to a Technical Training Session with Team Bath's Kim Commane. We mainly focused on defence but also looked at centre passes and back line throws as well as lots of ball skills. Plenty to practice on Wednesday. We look forward to supporting Kim and Team Bath at future Superleague games.
In support of England Netball's Couch to Court campaign this January Pewsey Netball Club are offering all new members two free sessions starting Wednesday 8th January. We are a friendly and sociable club with a mix of ages (16+) and abilities who are always looking for new members.
If you would like more information or to let us know you're coming please get in touch via the 'Contact Us' page, email us at [email protected] or visit our facebook page (www.facebook.com/pewseyvalenetball). We look forward to welcoming you. Saturday 7th December was the Pewsey Vale Rugby Ball. We had one table of netball ladies but many more were there too. A great night was had by all with a few of us feeling slightly worse for wear on Sunday! We're really looking forward to hosting our own ball on Saturday June 20th now, the planning has started already. More information to come in the new year. Weds 11th December was our annual Christmas Tournament. We had an amazing turn out with 4 teams made up of all Pewsey players competing in a round robin versatility tournament. We started the night with an obstacle race warm up. All teams then played each other. We finished off the evening with minced pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate but not before announcing the fancy dress winners. As always the fancy dress was very well contested but there could be only one winner...Jodie!! Closely followed by Sarah and Nicole. You may have seen England Netball announced their new campaign 'Couch to Court' this week which will start in January. It aims to remove some of the barriers stopping women from playing netball and encourage them to stay playing.
We're supporting this campaign and as always welcome new players of any ability. More information will come after Christmas, link below for more information. https://www.englandnetball.co.uk/introducingcouchtocourt/ Training starts again Weds 8th Jan at 7.30pm. In the meantime eat and drink plenty! Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year all. Emily x Following dates for your diary:

Carnival is a big thing in Pewsey: wine race, beer race and the main procession. This year 4 girls from Game Of Throws netball team in Manchester who we play against in Spain also joined us. While they were down we took the opportunity to organise Pewsey Whites first game on Saturday morning. A brilliant game with a close final score of 16-12 to G.O.T with Scarlet getting POM.
Wine race was last weekend and saw us dressing up as Calendar girls with a netball twist. Tied together in teams of 3 or 4 you make your way around Pewsey drinking wine at each stop. We made it around in one piece minus Elaine's shoe! Beer race was next which involved decorating our wheelbarrow. Women In Sport was our theme for Beer race and Carnival with everyone taking a different sport. Sadly we have to wait until next year to do it all again, but no doubt they'll be another excuse soon enough for more fancy dress! Hi everyone,
I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer. Just a reminder...tomorrow is our first netball session back, meeting at St Francis 7.30-9pm. I look forward to seeing you all there. As well as welcoming some new faces, Trudie our new coach will be joining us from tomorrow. Emily x Wednesday 21st August will be a pre-season session, a good chance to get back into it, catch up and welcome new faces.
This year Pewsey Netball will be running Squad Selection for the first time. We will have 2 squad selection dates, 28th August and 4th September. An external coach has been invited to assist with this process. She will advise on who she believes is suited to Division 1 play, Division 4 play and who needs a bit more time before playing competitively. The sessions will be informal and everyone will get the chance to play. Prior to the sessions everyone will be given the opportunity to put themselves forward for 2 or 3 preferred positions. Players will be spoken to individually once a decision has been made. If someone is suited to Division 1 then they will have the option to play in Division 1, Division 4 or they may choose not to play competitively. If someone is suited to Division 4 they will have the option to play in Division 4 or they may choose not to play competitively. Those players who it is felt are not quite ready for Division 4 will be given the opportunity to develop further through training and organised friendly matches. Please do attend both sessions if possible. If you are unable to attend either of the dates these players will be ‘squad selected’ on an individual basis at a further training session. They will definitely still be considered. If you are new to Pewsey Netball Club please get in touch, either via email or the contact form. Let us know which dates you can attend and your preferred positions if you know! Any questions at all please get in touch. I really want to stress this isn’t something to worry about. |
