Pewsey Reds started the January with injuries!
Monica Ford injured whilst playing tennis, Jodie Cannings injuring her knee and Sarah Mills not being able to stand! Despite these January injuries and illness throughout the team they pulled together and made a squad to go out and face Devizes! The team fought hard whilst mostly out of position! Penny Newcombe getting injured in the first quarter saw Jodie go on injured into GK (usually a C) and have a cracking game. They fought hard with a sad loss of 47-26. Thank you for all the support on the side line! Well done to our youngest member who was on fire as GA Sydney Short. NEXT GAME THURSDAY 18TH 7.15 VS WESSEX Pewsey Netball Club are at it again this time with a superhero twist. For one night only we were Pewsey Vale Netball superheroes. we had a wheelbarrow decorated like a batmobile, all handcrafted by our very own team members (and a helping hand of a jigsaw). This time Pewsey Netball Club raced around the village with our batmobile drinking beer from the local pubs. It's safe to say that our Netball super powers helped us along the way as we managed to bag 8th place out of over 160 teams.
The team were out spreading the word, advertising and recruiting for Pewsey netball Club. Pewsey Netball Club entered the Annual Pewsey carnival 4 legged event on the 16th September. 9 of our lovely ladies dressed in our fabulous netball dresses with a few extra sparkles were tied at the ankle and toured Pewsey's pubs for a glass of wine, this included a quick run through a cold river. Great fun had by all. On Friday 8th June 2017, some girls from Pewsey Netball headed for the annual SunSports Spain Netball Tournament. The tournament sees 14 Netball Teams from all over the UK battle it out in the scorching heat. The girls from Pewsey Netball enjoed all inclusive food and cocktails by the pool, a few nights out, some fancy dress.... and oh yes... lots of Netball. The girls coupled up with a Southampton Team called Central Park and shared players throughout the tournament! As you can see below, everyone had so much fun and are very much looking forward to next year!
Over the May bank holiday weekend, 10 players from Pewsey Netball competed in and partied at the annual Bournemouth 7's festival! The festival sees over 30,000 people across 4 sports, rugby, hockey, dodgeball and of course Netball! The team entered in the Daiquari league and finished the tournament at 5th place. Saturday night saw the big fancy dress night with the girls dressed in matching Baywatch costumes which proved popular with fellow netballers and rugby players! Pewsey Netball will be attending the festival next year geared with new fancy dress ideas and hopefully better weather! Watch this space for an update on the Spain Tour in mid June!
Maybe the most sociable Netball club in Wiltshire? Pewsey hosted a charity tournament on what felt like the hottest day of the year ( Sunday 9th April 2017) and had a great turn out. We had 6 teams in total from the local and not so local area who battled it out in a knock out style tournament. Devizes won the tournament and the medals but everyone that entered had a great time. The BBQ was in full flow and the cake sale helped raise £640 towards Nicole's (Pewsey Netball) marathon fundraising. Well done to everyone who came and supported and played!
On Friday 10th March Pewsey Netball team hosted a charity skittles night to support our Chairman, Nicole Edwards, in raising funds for her London Marathon run in April in aide of the Stroke Association.
There was a great turn out with 7 teams entering at £5 per person to include skittles and food (there was an awful lot of food!!) The winning team were the Cookies who scored 90 points over 3 rounds, well done to them and also a huge thank you as they donated their prize money back into the charity fund. A special mention also need to go to Kimberley Pyle, one of our players, as she scored the highest round of the night, 13 points! Thank you to all who came to support, it was a great night with some really terrible skittles playing but lots of laughs. You all helped us raise £225.50!! Another big thank you to Barry at The Royal Oak in Pewsey who gave us the skittles alley for free and also put on an amazing spread of food for us all. The Pewsey team had a great match on Thursday 9th March where they stormed the opposition with a massive 42 - 13 win.
On Saturday 25th February six Pewsey Netball girls travelled to Birmingham to watch the Super League Super Saturday! 5 x matches were played bet even the top netball teams in the country. We had great seats and had a very enjoyable day! Watch this space for more socials!
